With his opening segment on Monday’s “WWE Raw,” CM Punk lit up the world, but he’s playing with fire after saying one sentence in his explosive promo. In response to Punk’s remarks on Seth Rollins, “The Man” Becky Lynch briefly returned to professional wrestling to retaliate against the “Second City Saint.”
Shortly after Punk’s Monday segment, Lynch resorted to X, formerly known as Twitter, to retaliate against her husband’s latest competitor. Punk pleaded with Lynch to get her husband back, lest he wind up in a wheelchair. When Lynch shared a photo of Punk and Roxanne Perez wearing identical Elimination Chamber outfits, she said that she wasn’t “the one who needs to come get [her] man.”
The majority of fans thought Lynch’s comments were amusing, and others have started tagging Punk’s real wife, AJ Mendez, beneath Lynch’s tweet. Others used the occasion to ask for an official comeback to WWE for “The Man,” with one social media user stating that it would be possible to utilise the tweet to arrange a mixed tag match at WrestleMania 41 featuring Rollins, Lynch, Punk, and Mendez.
Lynch’s remarks drew condemnation from other people. Lynch’s photo comparison poster said that Lynch’s retorts were “corny and lame” and that her intervention was causing comments that sexualised Punk and Perez’s relationship to worsen. Lynch removed the post just a few hours after it went online, suggesting that she may have recognised the possibility of mistakes in her methods as well. Lynch has not yet addressed the removal of the tweet or its content.
It’s unknown if Lynch’s return to WWE, and any storylines that may follow, will be impacted by the now-deleted tweet. Rollins, Mendez, and punk have not yet responded.
