IYO SKY Wins WWE Women’s World Championship Over Rhea Ripley in WWE Raw Main Event

The WWE Women’s World Championship was won by IYO SKY over Rhea Ripley in the main event of “WWE Raw.”

It was Ripley’s second defence of this reign against the former WWE Women’s Champion, 56 days after she had reclaimed the championship from Liv Morgan and 46 days before she would have been defending it against Bianca Belair, the winner of the women’s Elimination Chamber. As her WrestleMania opponent was decided, Belair arrived first to sit ringside and observe. This led to a fiercely contested back-and-forth title match that swung on a pendulum before the final moments. At one point, SKY mimicked the manoeuvres of her Damage CTRL teammates who were not present. She locked in the Asuka Lock until Ripley broke it at the ropes, then used Dakota Kai’s Kaio Kick and Kairi Sane’s InSane elbow to nearly fall.

Additionally, Ripley would put her foot on the ropes at the last second as SKY performed an Over The Moonsault for a near-fall. Belair’s support for her opponent, however, diverted Ripley’s attention as she fought to the advantage once more. Referee Jessika Carr intervened and persuaded Ripley to resume her title bout after the champion objected to that, getting in Belair’s face before pushing her over. Belair nearly disqualified Ripley by yanking her back from the ring apron.

Before hoisting her opponent up, Ripley gestured to Belair as she looked to complete the Riptide from the top rope. To win the title, Ripley had to do a second Over The Moonsault in the middle of the ring after SKY reversed the finishing with a hurricanrana. While lying at ringside, Belair and SKY were seen looking at each other and glancing at the WrestleMania sign, demonstrating Ripley’s fury following her defeat.
