Joe Hendry’s WWE Royal Rumble Appearance Led to Unexpected Travel Nightmare

Although Joe Hendry’s stock is rapidly increasing, he had some unforeseen travel issues at his Royal Rumble moment.

The TNA World Champion received a thunderous applause as he joined the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble in 15th place, shocking the WWE Universe. It was evident that Lucas Oil Stadium’s supporters had faith in Joe Hendry. Unfortunately, Hendry’s momentum was swiftly stopped by Jacob Fatu, and Roman Reigns promptly defeated him when Hendry consumed a brutal Spear.

He was dealt more curveballs than just that. Prior to his Royal Rumble debut, Hendry was supposed to participate in Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea this past weekend.

Hendry’s plan had to change after WWE booked him for the Rumble, as he was originally scheduled to leave Florida for the cruise. Rather, on Sunday he took a plane to Miami with the intention of catching up with the cruise in the Dominican Republic before returning to the United States by sea.
Things broke down at that point. Hendry did not have the required paperwork to enter the Dominican Republic by air, whereas he would have had it if he had arrived by ship. He searched for a solution all day Sunday but eventually ran out of time.

Toni Storm, the AEW Women’s World Champion, took over as host of the Q&A session that Hendry was originally scheduled to do on the trip.

Even though it was a sad setback to miss the Jericho Cruise, Hendry’s WWE Royal Rumble performance undoubtedly helped draw even more attention to him. Fans are now speculating if Hendry would make a quick comeback to a WWE ring now that TNA’s association with the company is opening up new opportunities.

What do you think? Did Joe Hendry take an unnecessary risk, or was missing the Jericho Cruise worth it for his WWE moment? Kindly leave your comments below with your ideas and opinions.
