LA Knight Advances in WWE SmackDown Mini-Tournament to Challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for US Title

La

Even though he lost his chance to compete against Shinsuke Nakamura in a one-on-one bout for the United States Championship on Friday on “WWE SmackDown,” LA Knight advanced in a mini-tournament to fight Nakamura later. Knight beat Jacob Fatu and Carmelo Hayes in the main event after defeating Santos Escobar in a round one round to advance to the triple threat.

After Knight and Hayes fought until Knight sent the former NXT Champion flying out of the ring, Fatu grabbed him and threw him into the ring steps. Fatu had controlled the early part of the bout before he was eliminated. Fatu caught Knight after he hit him with a flying cross body, and the two of them collapsed into the announcer’s desk. Hayes struck Knight with a Nothing But Net back in the ring, and Knight covered him, but Fatu hit them both with a diving Swanton. Fatu moonsaulted to Hayes after hitting an Impaler DDT, but Knight grabbed the victory by dragging him out of the ring as he attempted to cover Hayes.

The date of Nakamura vs. Knight’s United States Championship match has not been announced by WWE. Since Knight lost the gold to the “King of Strong Style” at the Survivor Series, the two have been at odds.
