Rey Fenix Set to Join WWE? Latest Rumors and Updates on His Departure from AEW

Since Penta joined the WWE, there has been a lot of conjecture that Rey Fenix would also be joining his brother, especially since it has been claimed that he is leaving AEW. It looks like that could happen sooner rather than later.

According to a rumour from Fightful Select, Fenix will, “barring unforeseen circumstances,” sign a deal with the WWE, assuming he hasn’t already. According to reports that Sean Ross Sapp received, Fenix is scheduled to undergo medical evaluations soon, and there are reportedly already concepts for possible items that have been developed.

When Fenix disappeared off AEW’s roster page earlier this week, it was the first indication that his contract with the company had officially ended. Due to injuries he sustained in 2020, 2023, and early 2024, Fenix’s contract with AEW was originally scheduled to expire at the end of 2024, marking the end of his five-year employment with the organisation. However, time was added to the deal. As he had expressed on social media, Fenix was quite irritated by this.

Penta’s first appearance on the January 13 episode of “WWE Raw” disproved the reports that he and Fenix were originally scheduled to make their WWE debuts together. His victory over Chad Gable during the program came after he identified himself as his mystery opponent and thanked the WWE Universe in the post-match festivities.
